Colorado RTL Reply to Dr. Irving

"Faithful are the Wounds of a Friend"

Dr. Dianne N. Irving, a bioethicist and professor at Georgetown University, has criticized the personhood amendment, which we support, which appears on Colorado's November 2008 ballot. Dr. Irving's moral and scientific arguments are not only valid, they are foundational to the long-term success of the personhood movement. Colorado RTL will join Dr. Irving in educating pro-lifers, the public and politicians about the sexual and asexual origins of human life that must be recognized in law for it to protect all persons. Dr. Irving's criticism illustrates Solomon's words, "Faithful are the wounds of a friend" (Proverbs 27:6).

Media: Pro-lifers Blast Colo GOP Chairman

Colorado RTL's warning to the state Republican Party of a catastrophic loss in November has been reported (click for articles) by LifeNews, the Rocky Mountain News, and the Denver Post. Those articles are based upon this CRTL guest editorial:

Right To Life Warns Colorado Republican Chairman

Personhood Amendment on 2008 Ballot!

Colorado's Secretary of State Mike Coffman certified that the Personhood Amendment will be on the November ballot! Now through the campaign we can teach the public and our politicians of government's obligation to uphold God's enduring command, Do not murder!

CRTL Thanks the Knights of Columbus

Colorado RTL thanks the Knights of Columbus council in Littleton Colorado for their encouraging letter and financial support to help CRTL promote personhood, as they wrote, "that society be mobilized to force our political system to protect the right to life of the unborn and elderly." Amen to Tony Schaffhauseer and everyone at the Archbishop James V. Casey Council!

131,245 Personhood Signatures Submitted!

Historic Date May 13, 2008

DENVER, Colorado - Kristi Burton of Colorado for Equal Rights, along with a hundred of their 1,100 volunteers, delivered dozens of boxes containing 131,245 personhood signatures to the Colorado Secretary of State! That's 55,000 more than required by law to get the Personhood amendment on the November ballot!

"This is historic," said Colorado Right To Life president Joe Riccobono. "For the first time in any state, in forty years, pro-lifers are forcing a statewide opportunity to declare the personhood, and therefore, the right to life, of unborn children." A dozen reporters attending including from Denver's TV stations 4, 7, 9 and 31, and print journalists from the Colorado Statesman, Associated Press, Denver Post, and the Rocky Mountain News.

Regulating abortions doesn't end the practice

Colorado RTL's letter to the editor in the Colorado Springs Gazette newspaper (Focus on the Family's hometown paper)...
Colorado Right to Life opposes every law that regulates the killing of unborn children:
because regardless of the intention, such laws violate God's enduring command, "Do not murder,"
because they merely prune the abortion weed and strengthen its root,
because such laws make abortion seem more palatable to the public and to politicians,
because our conservative judges who uphold such laws become increasingly hostile to the right to life of the unborn, and
because if Roe v. Wade is overturned, such laws will keep abortion legal in Colorado
because they end with the meaning, "and then you can kill the baby."
